![]() The Express that you have was introduced in March 2008 and discontinued in June 2011, so the product is at least 12 years old and as much as 15 depending on when it was placed into service. It would not work some of the time and then work at other times. But, if that were the case, Ethernet would not work at all. The Express has been very reliable over the years, but it's always possible that a power surge or static electricity has damaged the port. I apologize for the long post, but I wanted to be complete with The new Airport Extreme is currently running version 7.9.1. Update was not successful.” In the Airport Utility, however, it does say that IĪttempted the update, but when done it briefly said something like “the firmware New Extreme is that once connected it asked me to update to the new firmware (7.9.1). The ONLY thing that was strange on the initial setup of the The new Extreme, but I want my old network back and I can’t figure out how. The wifi speeds have never been this fast so I’m happy with The new Extreme, but they each come back with their original name, connect, and I’ve tried to reset each Express before introducing them to Try to add an Airport Express the same thing happens: the Express initiallyĮstablishes a connection to the Extreme but then is lost. Re-established the wireless connection to the internet. Itself and my new Airport Extreme could no longer connect to the internet.Īfter multiple tries, I did a factory reset on the Airport Extreme, did the initial setup again, and Network and see it in the Airport Utility. With each Express, I was able to successfully add it to the ![]() The internet and had difficulty reconnecting. Once I started adding Airport Expresses, however, I was knocked off Set up appeared to go well and I had a much faster wireless connection to the I removed my old Airport Extreme, unplugged all theĮxpresses and followed the instructions to set up the new Airport Extreme. All were visible on theĪirport Utility (v6.3.7) running on my 2014 MacBook Pro running OSX Sierra. Have CAT5 running to them, but the rest are wireless. My original network had five regularly working AirportĮxpress units (Models A1264 mostly, plus an older A1088, I think) feedingĪirplay music to rooms throughout the two-story house. (Model A1521 – 6th Gen) and it has been a nightmare. I amĪttempting to swap out a new sealed-in-the-box Airport Extreme Base Station With an Airport Extreme Base Station (Model A1143 – 2nd Gen). My Apple network has been running successfully for years Is Ventura any better at connecting with 2010 Airport Expresses?Ĭan't connect Airport Express to New Airport Extreme Hi: I'm running a 2021 Macbook Pro M1 Max with OS 12.6.3 Monterey. Maybe that will happen here? But it's been a couple hours already and nothing. I remember (vaguely) that when I set up the old ones, it would say that it failed but I would come back hours later to find the AX on my network and ready to Airplay. I give it a name and the password, then go to the next step, but it always fails to connect: I have a feeling the mesh will not allow that now, so I am trying to set up the replacement AX to join the network: I don't know why, but this worked for over 10 years. I recall I had the old one set up to create a network, but I gave it the same name as my house wifi and same password. So I got a replacement, but it's simply refusing to get set up. But it completely died (lights out) the other day, and replacements (supposedly unused) are only about $30. A year ago, I upgraded to fiber giganet with a mesh system (1 main router, 1 satellite) and the old Airport Express A1264 took to it just fine. Airplay remains the most convenient method to get music from one end of the house to the other.
